The IT Lab aim in Churchill College is to provide students with a place where they can use
a computer with Internet access and printing capabilities. The use of the IT Lab is subject to
the same rules of the College.
Teachers, Students and their parents must read and understand the Churchill College IT
Policy. Not doing so will not exempt the users from any possible consequence they might
face.
It is the responsibility any user who bring mobile devices to school to abide by the
guidelines outlined in this document.
Acceptable use of technology IT LAB
1.Food and drinks aren’t allowed inside the Lab at all times.
2.Equipment is school property; therefore students can not modify it. this means that
students aren't able to install any kind of software or hardware
■students cannot install or uninstall software
■students cannot unplug any cables at all.
■students cannot change the configuration of computers
3.Desks are furniture of the school; therefore students have to take care of them. In
case they do any damage, students have to pay for the whole desk.
4.In case you find any equipment damaged go to administration and report the
problem.
5.Students are able to save any file in the computer hard drive or in the Laboratory
server folder. But if something happens and the file is deleted school is not
responsible for the file. so be sure you have a backup.
6.Internet connection is available to any student in the school but it has a firewall that
prohibits some websites. Nevertheless students should be aware that social
networks are prohibited and that they have to respect copyright laws.
7.All computers should be turned off after use and chairs should be put back to its
place.
8.Printer should be used only for school related materials. it is suggested that users
print in double sided paper unless it is completely necessary not to. If more than 1
copy are required from one document, you should print one and go to administration
to ask for copies of the document.
9.Chruchill Net should only be used for school related issues. Mobile Devices (laptops, mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, etc)
1.Users are allowed to bring any electronic device at their own risk.
2.Students are not allowed to use electronic devices in class unless allowed by the
teacher.
3.Owners of the respective mobile device hold full responsibility for any devices
brought. The school is not responsible for any damaged caused inside the school
facilities.
4.By no means any user should use the network and the internet provided the school
to execute malicious actions that may hinder, harm, incinerate, immolate, annihilate,
any human being.
Disaster Recovery
1.Users are permitted to save files to the local hard drive or in the Laboratory server
folder at their own risk. The IT lab is not responsible if any files are lost, damaged,
stolen, or deleted.
2.Users are responsible for backing up their own data.
3.Administration should back their data once a month. Student record once a year.
4.Grades should be uploaded to Omi Grades which will be backed up every two
weeks.
Security
1.Faculty members are responsible for their passwords.
2.Malicious programs and websites should not be run on school computers to avoid
viruses.
Technology standards
1.Students are not allowed to install software on the school computers.
IT services
1.All issues with the network will be delegated to Sistemas from the Anglo.
2.Users shall not try to solve problems with the printer in the IT lab, they should notify
Omar Alvarez Badillo.
